"That’s some pretty cool knitting.”

Lauren looked up to see the outline of a massive football player staring down at her, the sun glaring behind him.  Although with his size she wasn’t surprised he blocked out most of the sun.

“It’s cross stitch, not knitting,” she replied coolly.  One of Lauren Turner’s biggest pet peeves was when people called her sewing projects knitting.  Does it look like I have two big old hooks in my hands?  Would you put this stiff fabric around your neck?  Some days she just let it go…guess today isn’t someday.

“What’s it going to be?”

“A Christmas stocking.”

“Christmas?  This early?”

“It’s not something that can be finished in a few hours.  And I don’t always have time to work on it.”

“Oh.”

“Can I help you with something?”

“I was told you were one of the recruit’s parents.”

“Marcus Turner.  He’s a tight end from Lincoln West.”

“He’s a big tight end.”

“My husband was a lineman.  Stunted his gene pool with me so we ended up with a tight end that gets used more for blocking than anything else.”

“I’m Daniel Jefferson.”

Daniel extended his hand to her then sat down as she could finally make out his face.  Estimating his height at least six-seven, Lauren felt comfort with the man who didn’t need shoulder pads to be intimidating.  Her husband, Clark, had been a lineman with every inch of body required; strong arms and chest, thick frame of a body, and a spirit that was all about protection.  She’d always found safety amongst the trees of the offensive line.

Daniel’s face had the attractiveness of youth with his smooth, dark chocolate skin obstructed only by a shaggy, light beard, not long, just in need of lining up.  It was his eyes that held her.  They were dark brown verging on black and wasn’t that her Achilles heel?

“Nice to meet you.”

“I’ll be one of the captains next fall.  I’m pretty sure I’m assigned to taking you and your son around for a campus tour after practice.  They’re going to have him suit up and run a few drills so after that we’ll shower and show you around.”

Intellectually Lauren knew he meant him and the team, but when Daniel said we’ll shower she had an unnatural reaction.

“Is it just you or did your husband come along?”

“My husband passed a few years ago.  It’s just me and Marcus now.”

“I’m sorry to hear that.  I didn’t mean to…” Daniel fumbled and Lauren couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.

“How would you have known?  It’s not like I have a sign over my head that says widow woman.  Have fun at practice.  I’m used to being in the stands alone.”

Have fun at practice… Jesus, she was such a damn mom sometimes.  Lauren turned back to her sewing, accustomed to the solitude of the activity.  She’d started sewing when Marcus was younger as a way to separate from the team moms.

For offensive lineman Daniel Jefferson, spring ball was enough of a hassle, but setting the stage for recruitment with some of the top high school juniors before they were swamped in the fall had been Arista University’s way of staying ahead of the curve. His charm and quiet command of situations had caused the coach to tap him to be a tour guide for a few years as he convinced nervous parents that their son’s could turn out as successful as he had.

Lauren Turner was anxious about returning to her alma mater, but when they asked her son to come for a visit he was so excited to check out the campus and work out with a college level program she couldn’t refuse the visit. As memories of her time on campus overwhelm her, the tour guide Daniel only brought back the desire she always found for the strong protective men that played the line.

When Daniel saw young looking Lauren, the last thing on his mind was their age difference. She didn’t fear the massive lineman and with a brush of the back of their hands, they both felt the electrical charge. But how could a woman old enough to be his mother ever see him as anything but a child?

There was a time when short stories were the norm.  You look at Edgar Allen Poe, Shirley Jackson and even Mark Twain.  All had their stories that when published were little more than a pamphlet or had to be put into a collection to be published.

With the ease of epublishing short stories are making a resurgence, even when people want more a story can be complete in a few thousand words.  Creating a full story arc and coming to a satisfying conclusion.  The reason people want more is because you've created, in a few words, characters people could connect to.

In my stories I give you a glimpse into on moment in a couples life.  These stories will more than likely never be put into print and that's okay.  Why?  Because print is expensive for not only the consumer, but the planet as well.  My stories are there to take you away for an afternoon or evening.  The nice part is you can read them even on a short flight or car ride and thanks to ereaders you wont be taking up anymore space in your bag than a small paperback.  When you power up that ereader you'll not only have my books to read, but you could have the whole Rebel Ink Press collection to choose from and still not take up any more space in your bag.  So whether you're reading me, discovering your identity with Lila Munro, falling into a classic sweet romance with Lee Ann Southeimer Murphy, or learning how to love more than one werewolf at once with J. L. Oiler your ereader will be there to satisfy your reading needs.  Don't have one yet...don't fret, Rebel Ink Press is here for you too.  Don't forget to enter our giveaway before you hop to the next author.

There is something about a brother.  No, although I do love the darker shades in a man, I’m talking about J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood.  For those who love these vamps you know what I’m talking about.  They aren’t the whining…oh I’m a monster type vampire.  They don’t bemoan their position in life.  They are men in the most powerful form.  The have a scent that lingers on their mate’s skin that sends others running for the hills for fear on crossing their turf.

When they find the woman they want the word mine shakes them to their core.  Moving into their very being.  They discover that they have a huge need to possess this person body and soul.

My husband has already learned that in late March I go into a cocoon grasping tightly to my book or now Kindle as I fall into the world of over protective vampires that will do anything to care and nurture their females.  But they don’t push.  The women, as much as it infuriates them, must make the choice willingly.

Now this isn’t to say that they are all humans that need to chose to no longer be “alive”.  No, many are vampires themselves with their own lives and life spans.  They have to make the same choices that we all do in our life.  As I leave the cocoon looking for my man like a bear waking from hibernation he tries not die as I go into only five-guys-in-a-cabin-could-satisfy-me-mode.  It does make me wonder do I have some blood lust and that’s why these vampires appeal to me or is it something else?

Great story and writing aside what is it about these characters that makes me pop into the chat room in hopes that the author has gone into character mode and posted as one of them.  What makes me shiver at the thought of Zsadist staring at me with an icy cold glare knowing full well he could snap my neck or make me cum within three strokes of his tongue against my flesh?  What makes me want Viscous  to tell me even though I’m aching to climax that I can’t and think I’d actually be able to stop because he said I wasn’t allowed?  And finally what makes me want to crawl into bed with Rhage to comfort him after he’s turned into the beast that he carries on his soul for punishment but allows him to keep the woman he loves around. For only she can sedate the beast with just her voice.

My first short story, Summer School, will be out October 17th from Rebel Ink Press and it’s dedicated to Cassandre Dayne because I was just testing the waters trying to improve my sex scenes and she pushed and supported me into submitting it as a stand alone book.  First, this shocked me, because I’d never written a ménage scene.  To receive praise from someone that can write a sex scene with more depth and feeling than most authors and be told it was good enough to sell is a high honor.

In Summer School I explore multiple partners where both men have their own agenda with the girl, but both want to keep her safe and make her the focal point of the experience.  Now at this point you’re trying to figure out how my rambling political science fast talking mouth is going to tie together Cassandre Dayne, overly protective vampires and multiple partners…well actually tying them together isn’t all that shocking.

This week I’m going to have Cassandre Dayne answering questions about her series On Becoming His and the D/s lifestyle.  The book is about a woman coming into her own as a submissive (see my vamps now).  This not the first D/s book I’ve read, but it’s the first one that ever affected me.  The main character’s voice made me reexamine some things in my life, but I’m not going down to the Smitten Kitten and Home Depot to pick up supplies.  Much like when I was a child I didn’t start a candy empire because I wanted a chocolate room after I read Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.  Although I did learn how to make candies as I got older.

Luke, a possessive, yet patient man is the Dom in this book.  Just as Jessie he discovers his own growth as promised by the author in later books.  Much like my vamps Luke’s only end goal is caring for Jessie in the way she wants and ultimately needs despite the fact that she unsure how to meet her needs.  In the BDB series the vampires feed their women by hand to show their care of her well-being.  Unlike in other BDSM and D/s books where the Dom will say the woman must be shaven, not drink this, work out so she’s in the right form for the Dom etc, we find Luke who cares deeply for Jessie’s well being, but shows it more in the way my vampires do.  Nurturing her while still being in control.

Now like a Seinfeld episode I have to come full circle.  I’m drawn to men have a strong sense of self that protect and command me.  Does this mean I’m going to step feet first into a D/s relationship.  No.  Much like my interest in a ménage had me processing my thoughts in “Summer School” (again I was a poli sci major it takes me a little bit to show the connections but they are there) books can be transformative and not just self-help ones.  The BDB books are fantasy.  There isn’t a Caldwell, NY or there isn’t a secret society of vampires protecting their race…or is there?  But Luke and Jessie live in the real world where I do.  They have struggles and triumphs; and they enthrall me to the point of wonder.

Cassandre asked me why I wanted to give this story so many places on this and my other persona’s blog.  It’s simple.  When I find something that excites, stimulates or intrigues me I want to share it with my friends and the world.  Although if I do chose to go further into the D/s life initially at least it’ll be my secret, but the exploration of it can’t be.  I’ve been told having the desire isn’t the problem suppressing it is and sometimes the acts can be.

SP-In Demon Mine you bring back one of the forgotten women in the Bible did you do a lot of research on the history of Lilith?

NP-Yes, I did quite a bit of research when I decided to go with Lilith and I worked it out to make her my own character.  I am quite pleased with the results.  I'm hoping everyone else will be too.

SP-Samael has to keep repeating the past, but does he try different methods each time to spark Lilianna’s memory?

NP-In following the rules set by the curse he can't until he comes up with a plan that won't have him going against one of the rules of the curse openly.  The plan he devises is one that will get her to remember but won't have him be the catalyst directly.

Blurb:

Samael is a fallen angel doomed to repeat his life and love for Lilianna Jackson over and over again.  That is until she finally remembers who she is and the reason for the curse that has befallen them both.  For you see, Lilianna was once Lilith the first wife of Adam and the lover of Samael.  Are they doomed to keep repeating the past?  Or will there be a new future for the reincarnated lovers?

SP-Demon Mine is your next release what can we look forward to after that one?

NP-Wow I have some many works in progress right now. Cauldron of Tales is a self publishing endeavor with four other writers (Sonia Hightower, Chacelyn Piece, Angelina Rain and Lorraine Nelson) and set to come out October 1, 2012 and it may just beat out Demon Mine as far as publishing date.  Working on a Christmas story for a Anthology call that came out, sequel for Demon Mine, sequel for Mocha Kisses (which was published 7-16-2012 and is an Interracial Erotic Cougar romance), and several other projects. I like to keep myself busy with a lot of stories so that I'm always busy.  I also have a book that is contracted with Keith Publications and in edits right now called Hot For The Teacher.  It was written with a friend by the name of Bella Rosso.  To date I have 20 plus works in progress.

SP-Mocha Kisses has earned a silver star on ARe even making it into the top 5 for interracial I caught one day how has that felt?

NP-That felt beyond fantastic. I wasn't sure how it would be received.  I love to write and that short wasn't the first contracted (the other is in edits).  I am so pleased with the reviews it's received and with that silver star.  Which by way I didn't even know what it was till I asked.  Lol.

A little about you…What’s your favorite…

Adult beverage? I love the mix drink called a Tom Collins. If made right it tastes like lemonade.  I love alcohol to sneak up on me.

Guilty pleasure?  Cheesecake.  My birthday is in a few days.  I just want a slice of NY style cheesecake.  Yum.  It's so decadent and creamy, almost sinful even.

Sweet or salty?  I like both actually and most times I want them together in some form.

Reading or writing a book?  I started out as a reader (I still read) and ended up a writer.  I just hope everyone enjoys what I put down.  So again, I can't choose it's both.

Love or Lust?  Both what is life without love and how can a relationship have passion if it doesn't have any lust?  Live life fully!

Please include a blurb for the story you want to promo and cover art in jpeg form and all links you want.

Mocha Kisses Blurb:

Two mocha lattes and a pact.
Though a decade apart in age and from different ethnic backgrounds, will their mutual love of books and addiction to mocha lattes make for one evening of pleasure or something more for geeky Ronan and Meredith?

Meri didn't think Ronan was serious about their agreement to spend time together if both were single by her thirty-fifth birthday. After all, he was still seeing that redhead when they made the pact.

Ronan worried Meri would think him too young for the kind of commitment he wanted from her. Can one chocolate-drenched encounter overcome all their obstacles and concerns?
